Databases
Link for Novel New York Databases: Sources for a myriad of topics, including Opposing Viewpoints, Academic OneFile, General OneFile, and Encyclopedia Britannica.
Why use these databases? They include...
Legitimate Articles
Citation options (Cites your source for you, like magic!)
Videos, articles, web sites
Translation services
Audio options
See the following video for how to use it. Open it in a new tab - when you click on it, in the upper right hand corner of the box, you'll see either the trash bin or the little box with the arrow coming out of it. Obviously, don't trash it, choose the box. I admit the pace is slow.

Here are written directions:
Why should you use this database? It has legitimate resources and cites all articles for you.
Do not use Wiki as a resource.
I repeat – do not use Wiki as a resource.
Google as a search tool? Good luck when you receive 1,000,000 results and you sift through them, trying to figure out what is decent. Easy Bib will not make a bad resource into a good one.
SO...1st step - type NovelNewYork into the address or Google search bar.
1. NovelNewYork
2. Find Student
3. Opposing Viewpoints, General OneFile & Academic OneFile are at the bottom of the page.
4. Yes – use my location. If you aren't in New York, write me. I will send you the secret password.
5. Let us say you chose Opposing Viewpoints. Do NOT use that search box. I know it’s tempting, but don’t do it. Click on the light bulb – BROWSE ISSUES. It is located on the upper right.
6. You will be rewarded with a Massive list of options. Yay. Shop from the list.
7. Once you have chosen a topic, and click on an article, statistic, image etc – on the upper right hand of the screen you will see…
a. Cite (Yes!) It looks like quote marks – they are actually quote marks. One stop shopping for citation. Copy and paste it into the last page of your paper. Magic bibliography!
b. Download (do that, save all articles in one folder and then sift through them)
c. Email (it’s just the link, don’t bother)
d. Print (NOOOOOO)
You can also translate, change font size and listen to all articles accessed.
Opposing Viewpoints, General OneFile & Academic OneFile all look the same in terms of how you move around the page. Use these databases for some fine quality info!

Languages
Duolingo is an American platform that includes a language-learning website and mobile app, as well as a digital language-proficiency assessment exam. From Stacey: I have classrooms for each class on Duolingo and I can assign them work. Since September I have the kids do all their homework there and make it due every Friday night at 11pm. I can assign them skills or set a point amount for them to complete. I created these video help guides for them which explains things.

EMathInstruction was created on the simple premise that traditional textbooks are no longer the future of math education.
