Me

The name of this artwork is “ME”. This piece of art represents who I am, what I am, and where I came from. I used varieties of materials that were often used in my art or not used as often in my art. The materials I used were a B pencil, sharpies, 01 micron pen, Crayola markers, acrylic paint, watercolor, and lastly magazines. First thing that I finished drawing was a sketch of myself. The portrait of myself wasn’t the best but I was fine working with it. I made sure to include important facial features so the pencil portrait can look like me. After the portrait was finished, I was ready to start on the colors and markers.

First I wrote the I♡NY. In my opinion, it was important to me that I lived in New York. Not everybody has that opportunity to live in New York since it is a pretty popular place. That symbol is typically used for tourists however this symbol can really show that I, specifically, live in New York since I included it in my artwork. However, moments after, I noticed that I live in New York City which is more interesting so I went and wrote New York City with a famous skyscraper called the freedom tower. I am a teenager who tends to watch a lot of youtube and I thought it would be fun to include it in my art. I took a boy scout magazine and found all the pages of red and put it into a youtube logo. It took really long but I think it was worth it. At some point I did have to use an X-acto knife to make it more like the youtube logo. Although I was born in America, nationality is American, I am also asian. This is a very important part of me because it shows where I come from and what my ethnicity is. I included a drawing of the country China and wrote the 5 letter “C.H.I.N.A” so I don’t confuse people on what I was drawing there. Follow up, I tried drawing the lmc logo looking things but I failed because I noticed that I was using the wrong colors but I did bother fixing it and traced it. I thought it looked very unique and I was happy about it. From that point I continued and drew a sunflower. My favorite flower is sunflower and the funny joke around that is that my last name is Sun. I love the color yellow and that is the color that always makes me smile. However, that is not my favorite color because my favorite color is blue. Last but not least, I ended up drawing drips with the colors of the rainbow because I want to express my love for colors.

Overall I think my artwork is fine but I would want to redo this because I believe that I can do another art that has more effort. Next time, I would include more things that describe me because I want others to more understand “ME."
