My Pandemic Art

My pandemic art represents the impact of social media and news during the pandemic. For me, I've spent a lot of time in the past year on the internet, and I've heard a lot about the changes in the world since the start of the pandemic. Having a whole year mostly isolated at home, it's very easy to spend a lot of time on the internet, weather it's going on social media or reading news headlines.

I decided to make my image look like the person is actually getting sucked into their screen. I chose to put a black background to make the person seem lonely, and separated from their social life that they had before covid. I also chose many words in my head that reminded me of important times in the pandemic, and wrote them in the background to symbolize what the person was reading about online.

I feel pretty good about my artwork, and I like the idea of it, and how it looks very surreal. Maybe next time, I would make it more noticeable that the person is holding a phone, so that it’s not confusing to some people. Even though I used light on one side to make it seem like they were looking at a bright screen in the dark, I think I could have made the phone stand out a little more. I hope that next year in school, people will still be careful, but I hope that i can get more of my social life back, and have more things to do.
