Voices
I think "nothing about us without us" means that people with disabilities are getting talked over and aren’t able to speak their opinions and spread their message. I tried to show that in my drawing by putting people with different disabilities on a sort of podium with their mouths open to look like they're talking. I wanted to make it look like they were more important than others and inside the podium I wrote “Hear Their Voices” since I feel like that’s the whole point of “Nothing about us without us.” I tried to make little lines coming from their mouths to kind of highlight the fact that they’re talking. I feel okay about my drawing. I like the idea of what I wanted to do but not the execution. I think next time I would just make the people a lot taller/bigger. I think the people are really small compared to the podium and I might try to make the background nicer next time. I didn’t really know what to do with the background so I just made it a solid color.
