Orange Pop
In this assignment, we were supposed to choose a fruit or vegetable that either represents us, is our favorite fruit, or has a personal story behind it, and draw it with a background that includes pop art elements. This whole assignment is also inspired by a famous pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein.
The fruit I chose is an orange because starting a few weeks ago, my grandpa would buy a lot of oranges and we would eat them in the afternoon at around 3:30. We’ve eaten a bunch of oranges and my grandpa kept the orange peels, I don’t really know why, but I think it’s for the plant we have in the house and because it smells fresh. Because he kept the orange peels, we had a basket filled with tons of orange peels that needed to be transferred to a bigger bag since the number of orange peels kept getting larger and larger.
I chose the vector background as my background because I assumed that I would look the best with the orange since it would look like rays coming out behind the orange which I thought would look great. The rays are a pattern of two colors, light blue and brown because I thought they would stand out in terms of the orange being orange. I feel kind of proud of my work because I like the orange and the shading I did with it, but I somewhat dislike my vector background since the lines are uneven. What I would do differently next time is that I would choose another fruit, another kind of pop art background with different colors, and make my vector lines equal if I apply a vector background.
