Loma Linda University, Discovery (formerly the Summer Gateway program) is a two-week program for high school students in the Inland Empire who are interested in health sciences careers. Students participate in an interactive learning environment, get skills to prepare for college, and explore opportunities in many fields, including: Allied Health, Behavioral Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health.
The program takes place on the Loma Linda University campus and features daily team-building activities and a day of local community service.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided for all students participants throughout the 2-week program.
Volunteer match is designed to recruit highly qualified volunteers, looking for local volunteer opportunities.
Explorers have the opportunity to participate in both local and national law enforcement competitions, enabling them to engage with various agencies and gain insights into different department.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be between the ages of 14 and up to 20 years old
- Must have completed middle school
- Must maintain a "C" average (2.0 GPA) in High School
- Attend weekly meetings and complete 10 Volunteer hours a month
- Must have permission from parent/legal guardian if under 18 years old
- Must have no major criminal record
