Responsibilities of Employee
Actively supervise children; number of children present and accounted for, maintaining line of sight at all times.
Plan and conduct daily curriculum, in accordance with curriculum guidelines established by peer teachers, and Director.
Prior to class time, prepare all materials and equipment necessary to accomplish the daily program and activities. Includes but not limited to setting out materials to facilitate ongoing learning, change out manipulatives, art supplies, puzzles and blocks to offer more challenging activities for children to develop and grow.
Prepare and submit lesson plans to the Director on a weekly basis electronically or printed and placed in a notebook in office. Prepare a monthly calendar to be sent home each month with each child. Provide the Director with an electronic version of the calendar or place in a notebook in the office.
Maintain the classroom in a manner conducive to the students’ interests.
Teach students in class how to clean, pick up, sort and maintain toys, puzzles, blocks and manipulatives.
Weekly (at a minimum) straighten the room, clean surfaces, keep items together to ensure complete sets, maintain equipment and supplies.
Handle minor repairs on equipment and report major repairs to the Director.
Visit with the children in the classroom prior to the beginning of the school year and work with parents as often as required for the benefit of their children.
Maintain attendance and developmental records on each child.
Comply with policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
Know and comply with the Discipline and Guidance Policy.
Be knowledgeable of and comply with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers.
Behave in a professional manner at all times.
Respect confidentiality of staff, students, and families.
Teachers are responsible for keeping their teacher file current with emergency contact information.
Attend and log 24 hours of annual training from approved DFPS trainers.
Attend monthly staff meetings.
Attend mandatory events or perform other duties assigned.
Exhibit good performance of the above, which will be evaluated over time.
