What is Title I?
Ross and Lake- Noxen Elementary are identified as Title I schools as part of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to challenging State academic standards to reinforce and enhance efforts to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support parental involvement. All Title I schools must jointly develop with all parents a written parent and family engagement plan.
At LLSD, our Title I program provides the following:
Teachers working with students who can benefit from additional support
Learning resources for students
Professional learning resources for teachers
Resources and activities for parents to access as they support their child academically.
What is the focus of instruction?
Push-In Services: Title teachers go into the classrooms and work collaboratively with the classroom teachers to zone in on reading skills.
Pull Out Services: Students come to the Title classroom to work on specific reading skills.
Explicit and systematic programs and engaging activities are used to teach the 5 pillars of early literacy to best support our students' needs and to help them become confident and successful readers!
