LSSD Student Advisory Council
Welcome to the homepage for the Lake Stevens Student Advisory Council (SACo!)
Who are we?
The SACo is an official group composed of 10 members, 2 from each grade 8-12, that represents the needs of Lake Stevens students to our School Board. We seek to make Lake Stevens a better place to be a student, with an emphasis on promoting equity and inclusion.Â
What do we do?
Attend school board meetings to provide student perspective on relevant issues (anything from the district budget to the materials we use in class)
Hold council meetings
Propose new policy and programs
Change existing policy and programs
Bring student ideas and input to board meetings
Host events to empower and listen to the student body
What does the School Board do?
The SACo reports to the School Board, a group of elected officials that oversee all the functions of Lake Stevens schools. They handle the district budget, set curriculums (the materials we learn), and make rules that affect all of our students, among many other responsibilities. To learn more about them, check out their website.
