Reading & Math At-Home Activity Packs
Purpose: Provides students with practice designed to reinforce key concepts.
Parents: Check out the teacher guides just below the activity packs for answers and explanations. Work on one-a-day using a whiteboard or scratch piece of paper.
Low Tech/No Tech Suggested Activities:
2D/3D Scavenger Hunt: Find shapes around your home (example: circles & triangles) and sort them into different groups.
Sight word tic-tac-toe: Choose 2 sight words you're working on identifying and those are the Xs and Os. Play with a sibling or parent/guardian a few times and emphasize spelling and saying the word as you write it each time.
Go outside. Look for different living things. Then draw and label the things that you saw. Which are plants and which are animals?

Go on an alphabet walk! Look for objects that start with each letter of the alphabet, in order.
Read the room: Use a household object as a "pointer" and look around your home for words. If you find one, sound it out. See how many words you can find.
Bonus: choose three words you found and use them in a sentence. Draw a picture to go along with your sentence.
Draw a picture of a summer outing you have taken and write a story about what you did.
Start a collection (rocks, coins, etc.)- count how many things you have in it and sort them in some way (size, color, etc.).
Read or look at a picture book. Tell someone in your family what happened in the beginning, middle, and end.

Read, read, read. Read to a parent, read to a sibling, read to a pet, read to a stuffed animal. Read aloud, read in your head. Read a favorite book, read a new book. Record yourself reading.
Play a card or board game with someone at home.
Make a science journal - draw and write about what see in your yard. Have you planted any seeds? Record what you see your new plants doing each day. Look for birds, animals, and different types of plants; record what you see.
Write a letter to an important person in your life. Tell them what you have been doing, a favorite book you have read, and why they are important to you.
Start a journal. Write about what you are doing each day, how you are feeling, who you are with.

Reading is KEY! Set a daily page goal for your chapter book. Share it with your parent to stay accountable.
