Calendar and Important Dates
Battle of the Books 2024 Kick Off will be in January during ELA class library visits.
First practice is Wednesday, March 7 after school in the library from 3:10-4:10.
Practices will be in the library after school from 3:10-4:15 during the months of February and March except early release conference week.
Practices are February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 13, 20, 27.
Competition Night with teams from North Lake Middle School will be held in the LSMS cafeteria on Thursday, March 28th, at 6pm!
Battle of the Books is a reading competition open to any 6th or 7th grader. Students will form teams of 2-4 readers. All teams will read the same set of books from December-March when we have a trivia style competition to test their knowledge of the books at the end of March.
Battle of the Books competition day is a lot of fun! The game is played tournament style using game buzzers. Many teams wear themed costumes or matching shirts.

To sign up, return the signed permission form to the library! The form is part of the Family Letter or get a copy from the library.
Solo competitors welcome! If you don't have a team yet but want to be part of Battle of the Books, still sign up and we will place you on a team. Often times teams form at practices, not before!
