The Village of Lake George is proud to announce their unanimous decision on January 21, 2026, to rename an existing street in the Village of Lake George in honor of a local Corporal, Benjamin D. Osborn. The portion touching Canada Street and Ottawa Street will change from Mountain Drive to Ben Osborn Boulevard. The Board officially voted for the name change at their Board meeting on February 9, 2026.
Benjamin D. Osborn was a Queensbury native and was a 2002 graduate from Lake George Junior Senior High School. In June 2010, Osborn was killed while serving his country during Operation Enduring Freedom at the young age of 27. He was known for his humor, his adventurous spirit, his unconditional love for his family and friends, and his devoted dedication to his nation.
“Renaming this street was one way to honor a wonderful man who was selfless,” Mayor Perry stated. “The Board of Trustees and I felt it was right and just to commemorate him this way as he left a big imprint in our community.”
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund is a non-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization founded by William D. Osborn whose purpose is to provide support to local youth between the ages of 5 and 18 in Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties. The fund still exists today to provide assistance to local schools in the form of items, such as: school supplies, tutoring services, winter clothing items, electronics, field trip admission expenses, musical instruments and classes, eyeglasses, scholarships, and more. “As the Osborn’s work diligently to provide assistance to our schools, this is a way to say thank you for all their hard work and to continue a local hero’s legacy.” Mayor Ray Perry concluded.
