LKCISD & Strong Foundations
Linden Elementary School was the recipient of the Strong Foundations Planning and Strong Foundations Implementation grants.
The planning grant provided funding to plan for the move to using high-quality instructional materials in our K-5 reading language arts (RLA) classrooms. The grant helped our leaders develop the plan for LK's vision for RLA instruction, obtaining materials, training teachers and leaders, and tracking student learning growth.
HB 1605 passed during the 88th Texas Legislature (Regular Session) established an expanded process for the State Board of Education to approve high-quality instructional materials, protecting teacher planning time, and expanding parent access to instructional materials used in classrooms along with other instructional and funding changes.
HQIM CURRICULUM ADOPTIONS AT LKCISD
Amplify reading curriculum and Eureka math (a Great Minds material) have undergone the new Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process. Both curriculums have been identified by the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) as high-quality instructional materials. The IMRA review process was enacted under House Bill 1605, which passed during the 88th Texas Legislature and established an expanded process for the SBOE to approve HQIM, increased funding for HQIM, supported transparency of curriculum materials for parents, established guidelines for the protection of teacher planning time, and added new requirements for the review and revision of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
