Rancho-Starbuck and Lowell Joint
Receive NAMM Awards
On Thursday, May 15th, 2025 we were informed that both Rancho-Starbuck and Lowell Joint received NAMM (National Association for Music Merchants) awards for Music Education! Rancho-Starbuck received a "SupportMusic Merit" Award and Lowell Joint received a "Best Communities for Music Education" Award.
These national awards honor schools and districts around the country for their commitment to music education as an integral part of a well-rounded education for all students.
WOW, Jazz Band!
On Saturday, April 26th, 2025 the Rancho-Starbuck Trojan Jazz Ensemble competed in the 50th Annual Fullerton Jazz Festival where they took 1st place in the High School Novice Division. Rancho was the only middle school in the division and received a Superior rating and a score of 254 to take home the first place award. Three Jazz Band students were also recognized for outstanding musicianship and solos: Aiden (Tenor Sax), Cameron (Piano), and Duncan (Trombone).
Drumline Makes School History With High Score at Champs!
Our 2025 Indoor Drumline program, "Unbroken", ended with a record-setting score of 92.425 Saturday, March 29th, 2025 at SCPA Championships. This year's program consisted of music by well-known composer, Randall Standridge from his Unbroken Project which focuses on mental health and encourages us all to choose joy. The championship performance brought the audience to their feet and to tears and was a favorite amongst the crowd!
Rancho Ensembles Receive Highest Ratings
at 2025 Whittier Area Festival
On Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 the Rancho Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band attended the SCSBOA Whittier Area Festival at the Vic Lopez Auditorium of Whittier High School. All three groups had amazing performances and took home some high honors.
Wind Ensemble received Unanimous Superior ratings with a Superior in Sight Reading!
Symphonic Band received a Superior rating!
Concert Band received an Excellent rating with a Superior in Sight Reading!

CONGRATULATIONS, DRUMLINE!!!
Our Drumline performed their 2024 program, "The Fool On The Hill" at SCPA Championships on Saturday, April 6th where they earned a score of 90.85 which placed them in 3rd in the division! Unfortunately a slight timing infraction resulted in a 2.8 point penalty but we are proud of our Drumline students, regardless - especially the sportsmanship and maturity that they showed! Congrats, Drumline!!!
Rancho-Starbuck Wind Ensemble performed at the CMEA State Festival on Saturday, April 6th, 2024. The students performed three selections followed by a clinic with one of the judges. The students then listened to some of the top music programs from around California before celebrating with lunch at In-N-Out!
RANCHO IS GOING TO STATE!
The Rancho-Starbuck Wind Ensemble has been accepted and invited to perform at the California State Band Festival on Saturday, April 6th at the Cerritos College Performing Arts Center in Norwalk, CA!
In order to qualify, the Wind Ensemble received Unanimous Superior ratings at two District Festivals, then again received Unanimous Superior ratings at Regional Festival. Once qualified, an application was submitted including proof of scores, audio recordings, and background information on the school's demographics.
