Applying to college can be overwhelming. To facilitate the process, visit the Go-Center. Before you begin any college application, look over the College Application Timeline, the College Application Dictionary, and assemble the following items:

  • Full Legal Name (to avoid delays, your name on your college application must match your name on the FAFSA)

  • Social Security Number (while not required, if you plan to apply for Financial Aid, your Social Security Number will be necessary to match your admissions record to the FAFSA)

  • If you are a Permanent Resident Alien, you will need your Permanent Resident Alien Number

  • Copy of High School Transcript

  • Copy of STC College Transcript (if applicable)

  • Test Scores and Dates of your College Entrance Exams (AP Exams, ACT, SAT, TSI, etc.)

  • Resume (list extracurricular activities and/or family responsibilities, description of duties, dates of participation, offices held, etc.)

  • Student Honors & Achievements (UIL Awards, sports awards, employment awards, perfect attendance, honor roll, etc.)

  • Community Service (list organizations, events, description of duties, dates of participation, etc.)

  • Parent/Legal Guardian Information (full legal name, citizenship status, highest education level, etc.)

  • Home Address, Zip Code, Phone Numbers, etc.

  • Employment Information (if applicable)

  • Personal Statement and/or College Essays (Apply Texas, Common App, Coalition App have different topics)

  • Letters of Recommendation from Teachers and/or Counselor (if applicable)

  • Any additional supplement materials required by the specific college/university you are applying to
