Hello Rosedale Families!
It has been another wonderful week at Rosedale! It was great to see so many people at our Boy's VIP Dance on Friday Night. It was an amazing event, and I'd like to extend a huge thank you to our PTA for putting it on. I hope that everyone that attended the dance had a great time.
Our third and fourth grade students began M-STEP testing this week, and we could not be more proud of them. We've loved seeing their positive attitudes, determination, and the confidence they are bringing each day. Their effort so far has been amazing.
We are also looking forward to welcoming our incoming Kindergarten and Young 5 families at our Parent Information Night on Wednesday April 22nd from 6:00–7:00 PM. It is always exciting to meet some of the newest members of our Rosedale family.
Best Regards,
Ben Hillard

Our Rosedale Raptors are working so hard to be respectful, responsible, and safe! To celebrate their positive behaviors, our PBIS committee would love to keep our reward cart filled with things they will work hard for—small toys/prizes, Beanie Babies, and fun finds from Five Below or the Dollar Tree.
How to help (entirely optional!):
Check out our Amazon Wishlist here: https://a.co/0fu1ntBL
Have gently used Beanie Babies? We’ll take them!
Grab an extra item at the dollar store next time you’re out.
Donations are accepted year-round in the front office. Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing students!

April/May Challenge Question: Two Scoops.
On a very hot day, you decide to go to your favorite Ice Cream Parlor for an ice cream cone. Since it is especially hot, you decide to order a two-scoop cone. There are 8 different flavors of ice cream: vanilla, chocolate, rocky road, mint chocolate chip, strawberry, butter pecan, superman, and peanut butter crunch. You have a choice of three different types of cones: plain, sugar, and waffle. How many different types of two-scoop ice cream cones can you order?
March Challenge Question: Keeping it 100.
If you added all of the whole numbers from 1-100, what would be the sum?
Solution: The easiest way to solve this problem with students is to "make 100s." You can match the numbers at the beginning and end to make pairs of 100. For example, 1 pairs with 99 and 2 pairs with 98. This continues until you reach 49, which pairs with 51. Therefore, you would have 49 pairs that make one hundred. Since 100 didn't have a pair, we add that to our groups to make 50 hundreds or 5000. Then, we add on 50, since that number didn't have a partner to make 100. The sum of all numbers 1-100 is 5050.

Please make sure everyone who drops off or picks up your child knows and understands this document.
Early check-out/pick-up: Early office checkout will end each day at 3:45. If you come after this time, you will need to follow the end of day dismissal procedures. The end of each day has a lot of activity, and it is difficult to communicate quickly with teachers when students are packing up for the day. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.
Birthday Treats: If you are sending in treats for your child's birthday or another special occasion, please do not send food items. You are welcome to send in other little trinkets or prizes for the class, but we will not be able to pass out food. There are many allergies in elementary schools and this rule helps to keep all of our kids safe. Thank you for your help.
One thing we are working to improve at Rosedale is our attendance. We know it has been a difficult winter with illnesses, and we definitely want kids and adults to stay home when they're sick. Any other time, we want them here!
Coming to school each day provides opportunities to build routines, connect to friends and teachers, and engage in learning. Students with excessive absences tend to have more anxiety about school because they feel behind or unsure about what's happening in the classroom.
As you can see on the graphic, coming late and leaving early also impacts learning. Please let us know what we can do to help make sure your child is here at school for the entire day, every day!
