About the Director

This fall, Blakelynn Prettelt will be entering her fourth school year as band director at Westside Jr. High. She is a native of Walker, Louisiana and an alum of the excellent bands in the Walker community. She began her music education at Westside Jr. High under the direction of Ms. Tren Ingolia, and later, Mr. David Will. Ms. Prettelt continued band at Walker High School where she was taught by Mr. Jeff Seighman and Mr. Eddie Hirst. She then graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's Degree of Music Education. While studying at LSU, she participated in many performing ensembles such as The Golden Band from Tigerland. She is ecstatic to make music with the students at Westside! When she isn't teaching or making music, Ms. Prettelt enjoys spending time with her family and her cats.
