Course Preview Day

Welcome to the 2021 Course Preview Day Website!

This year, we have enhanced our Course Preview Day event based on our current circumstance to include both an asynchronous and synchronous component to help our Lancers make informed decisions for scheduling courses for the 2021-2022 school year.

Course Preview Day Screencast 2021 (1).mp4

The goal of this website is to provide you with an opportunity to gain valuable information about the courses they are interested in taking during the 2021-2022 school year before scheduling begins in February. Through this event, you will have the opportunity to learn about elective, CP, Honors, and AP courses by means of an overview of the course and its expectations, as well as examples of assignments and student work. Also, you will gain insight into courses which interest them, allowing them to make informed decisions for their scheduling choices. This opportunity may help you decide if you would like to complete an application for AP courses as discussed in the school letter dated December 2, 2020.

  • You are welcomed to watch as many screencasts on this website.

  • Please take the time to view at least one core academic course and one elective course.

  • If you are considering changing an academic course level next year you are highly encouraged to view the screencast for that specific course.

  • We encourage you to preview the material with your parents and to consult with your current teachers and school counselor in advance of Part II - Course Preview Day Questions & Answers to help determine which sessions they should attend.

Part II will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 1:15 - 2:15 p.m.

  • Teachers will open up their Zoom rooms to enable you to come and go and ask as many questions you have related to the course of interest.

  • Differences in the levels will be discussed, which will support a more successful transition. You are permitted to log into as many question and answer sessions they wish within the hour segment.

  • The Zoom links for each course are posted below the screencast and will be active on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 1:15 p.m.

  • Registration for each question and answer session is not necessary.

When weighing course selection for the upcoming year, you should ask yourself these questions:

  1. Am I taking a well-balanced academic program that will provide me with a good foundation for post-secondary options, and will I be academically successful?

  2. Do I feel excited by the courses that I am taking?

  3. Am I “stretching myself” in those academic courses and electives that will support my passion?

  4. Am I considering the role co-curricular activities will play in my ability to manage time?

We believe that Course Preview Day is one more way to enhance our commitment to helping you make strong, challenging, and balanced choices as you map out your career at LHS.
