Dear Sixth Grade Students and Families,
Hello everyone! This is going to be an amazing year for all of us. My name is Melissa Masci and I will be teaching 6th grade with Mrs. Smith this year. I am so excited to work with you in having a successful year ahead of us!
Here is a quick glimpse of who I am before we get to know each other this year. This will be my second year teaching at Liverpool School District. Prior to being at Liverpool Central School District, I was a special education teacher at Robert’s school in Syracuse School District. Before coming to Syracuse, I worked on Long Island with preschoolers in an early intervention program for students with disabilities. For undergraduate school, I attended SUNY Oswego and received by bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education. I returned home to Long Island for a little over a year and received my Master’s degree in Special Education and certification in Early Childhood Education from Dowling College.
I am originally from Long Island and have lived there most of my life. When I went to school in Oswego and did much of my practicum work in the Syracuse/Liverpool area, I realized that I wanted to move there. I have a big family and we are all very close. Two of my absolute favorite people in the world are my nephews who are very silly and smart. In my spare time, I love to watch movies, spend time with my friends and family, go to the beach, and read. My favorite foods are cookies and cream ice cream and my favorite sports team is the New York Mets! Some of my favorite books are written by Judy Blume, Katie DiCamillo, and Patricia Polacco.
