Greetings and Directions:

Welcome to the 17th annual LHS Earth Science Symposium!  Thank you for joining us today to support our Honors Earth Science students and celebrate their hard work.  Each student has spent the last six months learning about how scientists are currently studying real problems related to Earth Science. Today you will see the culmination of this high-level, challenging project.

We are happy to welcome family and community members into our school to watch our young scientists deliver presentations that are timely, interesting, informative, and often eye-opening. This year's Symposium will involve the work of approximately 75 students, more than 50 judges and volunteers, and two Earth Science teachers from Liverpool High School.

*Special thanks to all of our sponsors, the Liverpool Central School District administrative team, the LHS custodial staff, Tim Patterson, and Mary Lynn Klymkow for making this year's symposium possible!  Also, thank you to the LHS Earth Science Symposium Co-directors: Mrs. Barnell, and Mr. Williams.

How to use this site:

Click on the "Schedule of Presentations" button at the top of this page to view a schedule with student names, room assignments, and scheduled presentation times.  In order to preview a student's presentation, simply click on the room to which that student has been assigned.  This will bring you to a page containing the student's article (just click on the title), slideshow, and poster for you to view.

Browse the symposium rooms to look for topics of interest to you.  The students' posters are located in the right-hand column within each "room".  Click the upper-right hand corner of any poster you wish to enlarge for further viewing.  Physical posters will also be on display in the auditorium commons.

We are on a tight, synchronized schedule.  Please arrive in the room of any presentation that you attend AT LEAST 1 minute prior to the presentation's start time.

Finally, here is a re-cap of the symposium's goals:

1. Provide 75 LHS 9th-grade students with the chance to explore a geoscience topic and current scientific research.

2. To have those students practice reading, writing, and public speaking at a collegiate level.

3. Give our students an opportunity to participate in an event that models a professional conference.

4. To recognize the outstanding efforts and high-quality work exhibited by our students.

5.  To invite community members to participate in and support this premier educational event including judges and hundreds of parents and community guests.
