Definitions
Diversity is
the ways in which people differ and the different characteristics that make one individual or group different from another
diversity of people: race, ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, education, marital status, language, physical appearance
diversity of thought: ideas, perspectives, values
Equity is
the fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people
identifying and eliminating barriers that prevent the full participation of some people or groups
increasing justice, fairness, and the distribution of resources
Inclusion is
the act of creating environments in which any individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued
a welcoming climate that embraces differences and offers respect in words and actions for all people
