About Little Om

Little Om on the Prairie is the vision of Sheila Kessler.

Sheila is a 200-hr RYT hatha and yin teacher. She has over 500-hours of teaching experience cultivated teaching Level 1, Level 1-2, Yoga 101, and Yin. Sheila brings an honest approach to her yoga and teaching practices, tackling the lighthearted in life as well as its challenges. Little Om on the Prairies welcomes everyone regardless of ability or skill, perennially rooted like a prairie plant in the philosophy that yoga isn't for the flexible, but rather yoga is for the willing. Sheila is the first to admit that she is imperfect and is just like you, an average yogi on the path.

Sheila teaches at Pulsation Yoga in Arlington Heights and is also available for one on one private lessons. Sheila's personal practice is defined by her physical limitations and the personal work she does off the mat. As a result of severe scoliosis, Sheila's spine is fused with two Harrington rods. Her practice is defined by this physiology, but it does not limit her. She understands what it means to have pain, and to work with it rather than ignore it.
