Readworks is a favorite of Literacy Delaware's Tutors.
ReadWorks is a free, nonprofit educational platform focused on improving reading comprehension for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The site provides a large digital library of fiction and nonfiction reading passages, along with comprehension questions, vocabulary support, and lesson plans that are research-based and aligned with educational standards.
Tutors can use ReadWorks to assign texts and assessments to students, track their progress, and differentiate materials by reading level or topic. The platform also includes tools for text highlighting, note-taking, read-aloud (“text-to-speech”), paired texts for comparison, and resources specifically designed for English language learners. ReadWorks is accessible both in the classroom and for remote learning, making it versatile for various educational settings.
All of these resources are completely free for teachers and students to use.
