Ropes II

This is a twenty-four (24) hours introductory course for any Emergency Responder (fire, EMS, police) to learn enhance their basic Rope Rescue knowledge, skills, and abilities in several of the following areas:

Reviewing rope rescue knot tying, wearing and usage of class III rescue harnesses, rigging of a Stokes rescue litter for vertical high angle, attaching a rescuer to the litter as an attendant

Continual enhancement of basic rope rescue skills in vertical rappelling for victim retrieval, including pick-off operations, as well as introduction into self-rescue

This course also offers Initial training in developing the rescuers’ ability to build positive capture hauling systems and basic mechanical advantage hauling systems for both low and high angle environments

In addition, this course then combines all the basic skills learned by teaching the rescuer how to be an attendant on a litter for both low and high angle situations.

Finally, the course brings the students into the real-life austere environment to perform all of their basic rope rescue skills in an instructor guided, problem solving, scenario based exercise. This final session allows for the individual student to become part of a Rope Rescue Team training on rescuing victims from common high angle situations
