Classroom/Administrative Building

Work on the building is nearly complete. Starting, balancing and testing of building systems is under way. The balance of the A/V equipment will be installed next week. Cleaning of all spaces and touch up paint will then be done. The furniture is scheduled to be delivered September 13, 2018. The picture below is from the rooftop of the five story training tower.

Burn Building

Most of the work has been completed in the burn building. The doors and shutters were all painted grey this week. The majority of the training props in the building are done, but still a little finish work.

Training Tower

Metal work continues on the training tower. This past week the roof access ladder was install allowing a first time visit. Most of the railings have been installed. A few of the railing gates need to be installed. The metal work was started on the wall breach props. The prop will allow the instructors to sandwich a piece of sheet-rock in the frame. The students will then be able to simulate breaching a wall. The rope anchors for the roof have not been install yet, but are on the roof. As I have mentioned in the past there are a multitude of rope anchors throughout the building an facility.

Training Pad

A 70 ft. X 70 ft. training pad is design for vehicle extrication, propane training props, hazardous materials spills and fire extinguisher training. There is a guard rail on one side and Jersey barriers on the other. Next to the guard rail is a manhole which will allow a telephone pole to be mounted for simulating a vehicle into a pole.

Site Work

Work on the site continues. The post for the fence around the property have been installed. The fencing and top rail will be done once the pavement curbs are done and back-filled. Grading continues in preparation for the concrete apron around the burn building and training tower. A pavement binder coat can be laid down once the concrete is poured. A dumpster pad is near the burn building is being readied to be poured with the apron. The dumpster pad for the classroom/administrative building is all set. The 1,000 gallon propane tanks are on the pad. They piping will be finished and tested this coming week and then they will be filled. They started installing the stone for the rehab shelter.

Low Angle-Rescue Prop

A low-angle rescue prop was built using existing site topography. A gravel road was made into the top of the prop and a gravel area at the bottom. This will allow instructors to simulate a vehicle over an embankment.
