Work continued this week in and around the classroom/administration building. VCT flooring was installed in the hallway and break/cafeteria on the first floor. The painters also were working on the first floor. The apparatus bays are being filled and graded in preparation for the concrete. They expect to pour the floor the end on next week or the week after. They poured concrete for several sections of the west sidewalk.
More of the thermal lining was installed this week. The crew did go back to Virginia for the holiday. They will be back this week. The steel doors are being installed. The gap on the bottom of the doors will allow hose to go under closed doors. There will be heavy rubber pieces to fill the gap. The stairs have all been poured. Some of the braces are still in place and will be removed once the concrete has cured sufficiently. The electricians started installing light fixtures.
The concrete stairs are done through three and a half floors. Three sections of stairs left and they will be complete. Should take another couple of weeks to finish. Light fixtures were also being installed in the tower. Each floor of the tower has one or two manholes. The diameter of the manholes decrease with each level going down. These will be used for confined space training.
