Work was being done last week in the apparatus bays. The stairs to the mezzanine and the railings were installed. Insulation has been installed and plywood around the base of the walls. Light fixtures and a HVAC unit were hung. Red Thread has started to install the A/V equipment. Racks were installed in the IT room for the telecommunications equipment. Partitions and fixtures have been installed in the restrooms and locker rooms. The lockers will be installed next week. Shelving was installed in the two smaller classroom closets. A floor to ceiling 6 foot display case was installed in the breakout area. As rooms are ready the final coat of paint is being done. The carpet flooring is being held off until the binder coat of paving is done. A decision was made to change out the water pumps for the building. Once that is complete systems can be turned on and balanced. We project that furniture will be installed the second week of September.
Most of the thermal lining has been installs on the ceiling and walls. They started installing the brick on the floor. About 75% of the first floor is complete. Stairs are all complete and the bracing has been removed. Railings still need to be installed on the stairs and roof areas. The masons have completed all but about 15 blocks. They are preparing their equipment for removal from the site.
The last section of stairs were poured this week. This allows access to all five floors. The ladder still needs to be installed for roof access. More shutters and scuppers were installed this week. They ran into a slight issue installing some of the shutters, but architect had anticipated the issue and was ready with a fix. As with the burn building they still need to install railings in the stairs, fourth floor balcony and roof. A large drain is need from the fifth floor master stream closet to the training water tank. The closet is designed for aerial master streams collection. The water will be returned to the storage tank. each floor has one or two manholes in the floor. The covers are light weight. These will allow us to build props for confined space training. sorry that the sunlight makes the pictures difficult to see.
The training hydrants have all been installed. Some additional utility lines need to be installed in the training grounds area. They will install quickly as they are not very deep. The parking lot area has been cleared. The driveway leading into the facility, the parking area and the driveway around the classroom/administration building are being graded in preparation of paving. The binder will be done in this area first. Once this is done they can start installing carpeting.
