We know that the last few months have had an extraordinary impact on families, communities and our way of life. There have been highs and lows, moments of joy and learnings for all of us.
At Australia Post, we think it’s important that we mark this moment in our nation’s history. So we’ve created a national letterbox where, from now until 18 August, you can write a letter to share your experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re working with the National Archives of Australia, where eligible Dear Australia letters will be kept for future generations. This will enable all Australians to record their impressions of this remarkable time.
The My Place television series, based on the classic picture book by Nadia Wheatley and Donna Rawlins, is a ‘time machine’ which takes audiences back into Australia’s past. It explores our national history through the eyes of children, spanning a period of over 200 years. In 2020, we are asking children: tell us about your place.
Australian children find themselves living through a historically significant time. The coronavirus pandemic has reshaped their lives, and historians of the future will want to know how this looked and felt for children, their families, and their communities. The 2020 My Place Competition asks students to reflect on this moment in time and share their thoughts, observations, and experiences through creative writing.
Kookaburra Educational Resources are giving you the chance to win a state-of-the-art TETRIX PRIME Programmable Robotics Kit which will help you empower student development in STEM subjects.
Help solve real zoo problems with our STEM Design Challenge, Animals at Home.
Zoos Victoria is offering this free STEM Design Challenge during the time of remote learning.
Year F-6 and Year 7-10 students will design solutions for animals featured in the Animals at Home live streams. They will use their STEM skills, knowledge and an engineering framework called Design Thinking.
Students will learn how to:
• Research a big STEM problem
• Use Design Thinking to combine STEM knowledge and skills
• Brainstorm ideas and choose one to try
• Test and refine an idea
Sponsored by the University of Sydney, the Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize encourages students to communicate a scientific concept in a way that is accessible and entertaining to the public while painlessly increasing their science knowledge or, as Dr Karl and Adam like to say, "Learn something without even noticing". It is intended to support budding young scientists across the nation, who will be our future leaders in research, discovery and communication.
Each film entered in 2020 must be based on the theme 'Water'.
Join us on a 10 week learning journey over Term 2 where we explore our most popular Museum themes and content connecting to Science, Humanities and STEM. There are a range of activities for Kinder, Primary School and High School students.
The National History Challenge is a research-based competition for students. It gives students a chance to be an historian, researching world history, examining Australia’s past, investigating their community or exploring their own roots. It emphasises and rewards quality research, the use of community resources and effective presentation.
There are so many school science competitions to get involved in. Here is just a short selection of science competitions that give an opportunity for your students to shine!
