Jack Martin
Year 7
Acrylic painting of the College ‘Acrylic Painting of the College, Hundertwasser’.
Jack’s painting was influenced by his investigations of the vibrant and unique artwork and architecture of Austrian artist Friendensreich Hundertwasser. This landscape painting also includes the natural and man-made environment of our school, St Joseph’s Regional College in Port Macquarie.
Abbie Morton
Year 9
lino print using black ink ‘Next to Walters Road’.
The theme for this printmaking unit of work is ‘Urban/Suburban, Coastal/Country’ and the idea of contrasts in our local environment. Abbie’s lino print represents her connection to ‘place’ and where she lives in the Port Macquarie area, showing a street scene that she encounters every day with the large beautiful gum trees, ‘Next to Walters Road’.
Heo Ignacio
Year 10
Self-Portrait (Essentially Me) using water colour paint and coloured pencils.
This work is a response to the theme ‘Essentially Me’. In revealing the ‘essence’, of himself, Heo has referenced his culture and spirituality. He has created a dreamlike space in which temples, a little village and beautiful miniature landscapes, waterfalls and bridges are formed under a universe of stars and spirits. Heo’s face is translucent, glowing out of the beautiful background with the ‘spark of creation’, as the artist, occurring as a thought in the image.
Olivia Montgomery
Year 11
Self-Portrait using lead pencil and watercolour.
This artwork was created as an exploration and documentation of the student’s external self (the aspects of the artist that others in the outside world see and get to know). It was made in conjunction with a concertina book that explores the internal self (the characteristics, experiences and memories that only those closest to the artist see and share).
