The Battle of Kadesh, in 1275 BC, was a desicive battle between the Egyptians ruled by Ramses II and the Hittites ruled Muwatallis, near Syria. In one history's most famous chariot battles, Ramses II wanted to reclaim Syria from the Hittites and take the Hittite-held city of Kadesh. Thousands of chariots charged into battle and Ramses II was the underdog. The battle ended up being a draw because Ramses II had to leave Kadesh after he took it because his force couldn't hold it.
