SCHOOL FAQ´S

What does LIS do when a student or employee shows signs of illness at school?

If a student or employee has a fever or is unwell they must report to the Medical Office for evaluation. If necessary, parents will be asked to take their child home. We may also advise that the child is evaluated and cleared by a doctor prior to returning to school. If necessary, the school will implement a self-isolation period of 14 days.

What does self isolation mean at LIS?

The student or employee does not come to school/work and will remain in self-isolation for a period of 14 days. Self-isolation is a sort of voluntary quarantine, where people have to make their own arrangements. They are expected to stay at home, and certainly not going to work or school. It has been described by public health officials as taking the same measures you would if you had a heavy cold – although perhaps the better comparison would be the flu. Self-isolation can include simple measures such as choosing not to shake hands when greeting people, carrying and using your own stationery(pen), eating in quieter areas, etc. Self-isolation can be complex when you have other family members to consider. When can a student/employee in self-isolation return to LIS?

Students or employees may only return to school once the period is completed. Prior to the date of return, the school medical officers will contact the family/employee and check their health status. If no flu symptoms or fever are present, the student/employee may return to LIS. In the event flu symptoms are present or persist, the school will extend the self-isolation period.
