When the campus is temporarily closed, LIS teachers continue to provide learning materials and activities that maintain the LIS planned curriculum. Learning continues to emphasize inquiry and collaboration.

Continuous Learning in the MYP provides experiences that are aligned with the curriculum. While variations may occur, the key concepts, skills, objectives, and Approaches to Learning skills are addressed. Assessments follow a similar timeline as when on-campus learning is in session, though they may be approached in different ways.

Our Approach

• Learning materials are shared via Google Classroom.

• Learning engagements continue to be inquiry-based.

• Learning engagements may be completed:

  • independently online

  • collaboratively online, via chat, video conference or other collaborative tools

• Learning engagements have a number of purposes:

  • to allow students to engage with new learning

  • to practice, discuss or apply learning

  • demonstrate knowledge and skills in relation to learning

• Learning connects to current units and curriculum.

• Assessment tasks enable students to demonstrate their understanding.

Student expectations

Your health, safety, and well-being is our number one priority. If you have any safeguarding or social/emotional concerns, please contact any adult in the LIS faculty.

Concerns about inappropriate language and behavior or disclosure of sensitive or inappropriate information online should be addressed immediately and also reported to any adult in the LIS faculty as soon as possible.

• Establish a daily routine to support your learning.

• Work on the subjects that you have scheduled for that day.

• Identify a comfortable, quiet space so you can learn effectively and successfully.

• Check your Gmail, Calendar, Hangouts and Google Classroom on a daily basis.

• Engage in learning tasks with academic integrity (honesty).

• Complete all assessment tasks.

• Take breaks, play, be active.

• Communicate proactively with your teachers. Ask questions, but be patient when waiting for a response. If a teacher contacts you, respond within 24 hours.

• Communicate with your friends, classmates and advisory group regularly.

• Be mindful of your workload and well-being. If you have any concerns, contact your advisor or counsellor.

• Attendance for video conferences scheduled during appropriate times is mandatory. Apologies for missing a conference must be sent to the teacher as soon as possible. Video conferences will occur only with Google Meet or Zoom through your LIS account.

During video conferences,

• • Camara use is expected

  • Dress appropriately, as if you are attending school.

  • Maintain respectful, attentive behavior and engage in positive interactions with everyone in the session

  • Select a neutral space for the video conference--preferably at a desk or table that is a comfortable workspace with easy access to materials, laptops, internet, etc... Avoid personal spaces, such as a bedroom.

  • Ensure others in the household are aware that there will be a live video recording with individual(s) from LIS occurring at the given time

• Video recordings including students may not be streamed or linked to any external media by faculty/staff, students, or families.

• If you experience any technical problems, or aren’t sure who to ask, email your teacher first and they will direct you to the correct person to ask.

Families

The health, safety, and well-being of the students is our number one priority. If you have any safeguarding or social/emotional concerns, please contact a member of the LIS secondary leadership team.

• Work with your child to establish a daily routine.

• Be mindful of your child’s well-being; speak to them regularly about concerns or challenges.

  • Communicate any concerns to your child’s teacher, advisor or counsellor via email.

• Monitor and support your child’s online activity and have clear expectations for your child in completing all work.

• Choose a learning location that is suitable to be seen by peers and teachers if students are using video tools.

• Ensure your child has access to wifi and appropriate learning platforms during learning time.

• Ensure your children are dressed appropriately when using video tools.

• If there are siblings simultaneously online, choose locations that do not cause noise interference when recording learning or video conferencing.

• Stay-up-to-date with all LIS communications.

• Video recordings may not be recorded, streamed, or linked to any external media by faculty/staff, students, or families.

• Technology Learning Coach (TLC) Role - The TLCs are here to help and should be sought for guidance and advice as required. Parents will be given the email addresses of the TLCs in early and ongoing communications so that they can seek support if required.

• In the secondary section, there is an expectation that students join zoom sessions independently to aid their learning and to enhance their ATL skills. We do realise that in the current circumstances there may be other children and/or adults sharing the same room. If that is the case we would ask that the adult stay out of the ‘shot’ and if there is any communication with your child that the microphone is muted. If you feel you need to be in the zoom meeting to support your child, please inform the teacher at the beginning of the session. Where possible, the adult should not be in the shot nor should the other zoom members hear any communication. If the students are placed in breakout rooms, we respectfully ask adults not to communicate with the other students on any level.

Expectativas dos estudantes

As preocupações sobre linguagem e comportamento inadequados ou divulgação de informações sensíveis ou inapropriadas em linha devem ser abordadas imediatamente e também comunicadas a qualquer adulto do corpo docente da LIS o mais rapidamente possível.

• Estabeleça uma rotina diária para apoiar a sua aprendizagem.

• Trabalhar sobre os assuntos que tenha agendado para esse dia.

• Identificar um espaço confortável e tranquilo para que possa aprender com eficácia e sucesso.

• Verifique diariamente o seu Gmail, Calendário, Hangouts e Google Classroom.

• Envolva-se em tarefas de aprendizagem com integridade académica (honestidade).

• Completar todas as tarefas de avaliação.

• Fazer pausas, brincar, ser activo.

• Comunique-se proactivamente com os seus professores. Faça perguntas, mas seja paciente ao esperar por uma resposta. Se um professor o contactar, responda no prazo de 24 horas.

• Comunique regularmente com os seus amigos, colegas de turma e grupo consultivo.

• Esteja atento à sua carga de trabalho e bem-estar. Se tiver alguma preocupação, contacte o seu conselheiro ou conselheira.

• A participação em videoconferências programadas durante os horários apropriados é obrigatória. As ausências e faltas as uma conferência devem ser enviadas ao professor o mais cedo possível. As videoconferências só ocorrerão com o Google Meet ou Zoom através da sua conta LIS.

Durante as videoconferências,

• A utilização de câmaras é esperado.

• Vista-se adequadamente, como se estivesse a frequentar a escola.

• Mantenha um comportamento respeitoso e atento e envolva-se em interacções positivas com todos os participantes na sessão

• Seleccione um espaço neutro para a videoconferência - preferivelmente numa secretária ou mesa que seja um espaço de trabalho confortável com fácil acesso a materiais, computadores portáteis, Internet, etc... Evite espaços pessoais, tais como um quarto de dormir.

• Assegurar-se de que os outros em casa estão cientes de que haverá uma gravação de vídeo ao vivo com o(s) indivíduo(s) da LIS a ocorrer no dado momento.

• As gravações de vídeo, incluindo os estudantes, não podem ser transmitidas ou ligadas a qualquer meio externo pelo corpo docente/pessoal, estudantes, ou famílias.

• Se tiver algum problema técnico, ou não tiver a certeza a quem perguntar, envie primeiro um e-mail ao seu professor e este irá encaminhá-lo para a pessoa certa para perguntar.

Famílias

As preocupações sobre linguagem e comportamento inadequados ou divulgação de informações sensíveis ou inapropriadas em linha devem ser abordadas imediatamente e também comunicadas a um membro da equipa de liderança secundária do LIS o mais rapidamente possível.

• Trabalhe com o seu filho para estabelecer uma rotina diária.

• Esteja atento ao bem-estar do seu filho; fale regularmente com ele sobre preocupações ou desafios.

• Comunique quaisquer preocupações ao professor, conselheiro ou conselheira do seu filho através de correio electrónico.

• Monitorize e apoie a actividade on-line do seu filho e tenha expectativas claras para o seu filho na conclusão de todo o trabalho.

• Escolha um local de aprendizagem adequado para ser visto por pares e professores se os alunos estiverem a utilizar ferramentas de vídeo.

• Assegure-se de que o seu filho tem acesso a wifi e plataformas de aprendizagem apropriadas durante o tempo de aprendizagem.

• Assegure-se de que os seus filhos estão vestidos de forma apropriada quando utilizam ferramentas de vídeo.

• Se houver irmãos simultaneamente on-line, escolha locais que não causem interferência sonora ao gravar a aprendizagem ou videoconferência.

• Mantenha-se actualizado com todas as comunicações da LIS.

• As gravações de vídeo não podem ser gravadas, difundidas ou ligadas a qualquer meio externo pelo corpo docente/pessoal, estudantes ou famílias.

• Treinador de Aprendizagem Tecnológica (TLC) Papel - Os TLCs estão aqui para ajudar e devem ser procurados para orientação e aconselhamento, conforme necessário. Os pais receberão os endereços electrónicos dos TLCs nas comunicações iniciais e contínuas, para que possam procurar apoio, se necessário.
