LHS Viewettes

The Viewettes are the premiere dance drill team at Longview High School. Established in 1964 by Mrs. Helen Rotondo the Viewettes have been giving crowd pleasing performances and promoting school spirit for over fifty years.

Since their inception the Viewettes have become ambassadors for not only Longview High School, but for the city of Longview, and they take pride and honor in being a part of an organization that not only promotes the fine art of dance, but that instills such traits as discipline, and integrity.

The Viewettes are made up of sophomores through seniors, and usually comprise of 35-45 members. Auditions are held each year in the spring where the candidates perform jazz, technique, kicks, and splits in front of a panel of three judges.

Besides pep rallies, and Friday night halftime performances the Viewettes showcase their talents each spring in the annual Viewette Revue. Other notable performances include the Gilmer Yamboree parade, East Texas State Fair, State Fair of Texas, McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago, the Cotton Bowl, Dallas Mavericks game, Children's Holiday Parade, in Dallas, and Disneyland in California.
