Student E-Portfolio Example

This is a very basic template for having students create an e-portfolio using Google Sites. In this example, each page is covering a different body system. On each page, you'll also find suggestions on items to have students include in their portfolio! Remember that there is more than one "right way"- this is merely an example of what you could have your students do!

Tips and ideas:

  • Organize the content by pages (think of having one unit per page or one topic per page)
  • E-Portfolios are great for projects or even for long-term organization of student learning
  • Encourage students to make their site look creative and engaging
  • Writing is key- require students to explain in detail for every picture, video, link, etc. (Some of my examples were copy/pasted due to time, but please encourage students to use their own words!)
  • Have students share their site with you and give you editing rights
  • Copy the published link by clicking the paperclip/link icon at the top right corner. Put all of the links for your students on one Google Doc or Google Sheet for easy viewing!
  • Share the Doc or Sheet with the links through Google Classroom to create a digital gallery walk. Require that students visit a certain number of sites and have them leave feedback or fill out a form.
  • Remember: Sites for students are only accessible through an LISD domain address! This keeps students safe from random people around the world!

Suggestion: On the home page, have students create a visual or an overview of their topic!

Have students change the heading photo at the top of each page to match that page's topic! As you look at the example here, notice how the picture at the top changes to match the label!

To earn a badge for E-Portfolio using Sites, there must be evidence of 3 separate lessons. For example, this project covering body systems includes evidence from a lesson over the circulatory system, the muscular system, and the nervous system.
