Indi loves learning new stories! Use what you know about story elements and retelling stories to build an algorithm for Indi that includes all of the steps to retelling any story.
Think about how most stories go. Every story has similar elements that are usually put together in predictable ways, much like an algorithm.
Place the story retell cards in an order that makes sense for how we summarize (or retell) a story.
Design a path for Indi that includes the story retell cards in the order you decided on in step 2.
Place the tiles so that indi will travel through your course, stopping at the red cards for you to retell a bit of a story. Indi will need to be placed on a green card following the red cards so that the path can continue.
Use a story you have read to practice retelling with Indi's new algorithm. Retell the story to a partner.
Reflect on the activity using one of the reflection options.
These cards can be printed to use in a story retell algorithm. It is recommended that they be printed on Astro Brights paper, (the corresponding colors are on the document) as Indi will recognize those colors just like the color tiles. I also recommend providing extra green squares for students to use.
Alternatively, these can be printed on plain paper and placed beside the color tiles in an algorithm for Indi to follow.
