BAND NAME
Our band is called 'Fifths'. We chose this name due to the fact that there are five of us, and it is also a musical term, the Circle Of Fifths, the Fifth note of a chord, etc. This was a name we all agreed on in the end, we came to this decision because the name is catchy, and often the shorter a name, the easier it is to remember, such as "Beatles" "Blur" "Gorillaz" Etc.
However, we were originally called 'The Dirty Furnitures', We rejected this because some band members disliked it, due to it sounding too satirical.
We also had one more previous name, which was Sharp Calf. This was considered because of the interesting sound of the name, and the randomness was in line with the grungy attitude .
LOGO
Bands have logos for the purpose of having one symbol that is synonymous with them and their brand, this can be used for Promotion, Social Media, Merch, Etc. Logos are often seen as synonymous with the band, with some bands like The Beatles even becoming synonymous with a font. More modernly however, logos are often circular to comply with circular social media profile pictures. We decided to take a lot of this into account for our logo
This was the first draft of our logo, it had the charm and roughness we wanted but it needed to be sharpened up and digitized. The colours need to be changed along with the framing. It should be monochrome, with a black background, and the lines should be in more of a straight line, and it should be more circular rather than oval. We wanted to remove the "THE" in the logo, as it seems unnecessary and takes away from the logo itself
This is the final product of the logo we made, and we think it really fits our style, look and energy. The way it was drawn is sporadic, due to the chaotic style and presence we plan to have. The colour scheme is simplistic, we did this to keep the roughness of our original idea, and because it is easier to create merch with a black and white design. The simplicity of the Logo helps its recognisability. I have included some logos at the bottom that we took some inspiration from.
BAND IMAGE
For our Image, we are going after a 90's Skater/Alt/Grunge style, including clothing with washed out colours, nothing too vibrant, with items like flannels, baggy jeans and graphic t-shirts. We intend to perform songs by Nirvana, Pixies, Radiohead, Etc. Our setlist consists of;
All Apologies (Nirvana)
The Bends (Radiohead)
Original
Hey (Pixies)
Criminal (Fiona Apple) Genre Change
We chose these songs due to their mass appeal, the attitude of the songs fits the image of the band, and we are all firmiliar with the genre and bands in the genre.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Our band's aims for this project is to release a well produced and written song that we have all contributed to, and put on a great performance at The Cavern. My personal aims are to become a better bandmate, learn more about drum mixing, learn some mastering skills, and to explore singing live at a gig. Achieving these goals will take a lot of dedication and practicing, both at home and at college. I will have lots of experience in becoming a better band member and live singing, as I sing in my external band live, and I practice with them recently which gives me great experience in being a helpful and contributing bandmate. I may come accross challenges such as burnout from doing so many things at once (my band, college band, coursework, my job, practicing guitar, social life, etc.) but I am going to overcome these problems by learning to better manage my time and working harder towards my coursework
SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE
We will be using TikTok and Instagram to promote our band due to our familiarity with the trends/algorithms on these apps. We won't be using Twitter or Facebook due to the fact that our target audience of teenagers do not use either of these apps as much, and Twitter is not often used for gig promotion in smaller bands, my Social media poll confirms this.
Here are all of the results from the poll:
I think that South Arcade have used their social media platforms very well to promote their music and live shows, they have become very popular from their Tiktok and Instagram videos, and have used the hooks of their videos to get viewers to stay and listen to the song. Below is them posting about a show
In my opinion, Slash has one of the worst social media pages, due to the lack of relevance to his music. His posts have almost nothing to do with the music, and do not help his growth either. For example, below is one of his posts, which is just a dirt bike trick.
SOCIAL MEDIA PLAN
OUR SOCIAL MEDIA
Below are screen shots of our social media content and interaction with our followers in the build-up to our gig at The Cavern.
Below is our Instagram, we decided to keep the instagram completely professional with no nonsense information on who we are.
Below is our Tiktok. This is where we decided to promote our music and post video clips here, and try to drive these viewers and followers to our instagram to get ticket sales and new fans. Our Tiktok account has been doing very well, with our video views spanning 1K-3.7K views and likes totalling over 600.

MICROSOFT PLANNER
EPK
An Electronic Press Kit (EPK) is a digital record of promotional materials used to market a musician, band, or film project. It's a more modernized version of the traditional press kit, which was often a physical package sent by mail. We will be using it for promo for any other gigs, as many promoters prefer being sent an EPK, rather than asking for all the information over email, it also makes it easier for bands to send to promoters in bulk, rather than having to send a huge email every time they are offered a gig.
A good quality EPK should include promo photos, a short and long biography, links to music, gig videos, links to social media, press quotes and testimonials and any contact info
A good example of an EPK is Gorillaz' (https://press.warnerrecords.com/gorillaz) due to them having high resolution images, press releases, press clippings, videos, contact information, and links to all social medias, including their website. However, an even better example, would be muse's EPK, which features a Bio, Photos, Artwork, Tour Dates, Videos, Press Releases, and Contact information.
