6th Math

Homework

There is no “regular” nightly homework assigned in 6th grade for either class. We feel that students need family time at home after school. (Always, though, feel free to have your student read or work with math at home if they are struggling or need the extra practice!) If, by chance, your child is either absent or does not get their work done in class, then they will need to finish that work at home.

Binders:

Your student will bring home any graded papers from class every Friday in their binder. Any notes will come home daily with your child. Any notes that you have for us can either be emailed to us or you can send them to school in your child’s binder.

Progress Reports/Report Cards

Progress Reports and Report Cards only need to be signed and returned if your child has a failing grade. Otherwise, the reports can stay at home.

6th Grade Rules

-Respect others and their property.

-Be respectful outside the classroom.

-Don’t talk while others are talking.

-Follow all directions in a quick manner.

-Raise your hand to speak.

-No bullying.

Grading Policy

Our grading policy will be as follows:

60% for daily grades

40% for test grades

Corrections/Late Work:

Corrections: Students can correct any paper and receive 50% of the missed points back.

(Example: A student makes a 50 on a paper. The student may correct the paper and receive up to 25 extra points for a final grade.)

Late Work: Any late work will have 10 points deducted for each day it is late.

Online Learning:

We expect all students to be logged in to Google Classroom. We will be posting assignments and announcements through this platform. Students who are asynchronous (online) will be expected to login and complete work everyday for attendance purposes. Grading policy for online will be the same as face to face.

Login Information:

Students login information will remain the same throughout their entire time as a Lipan Indian. They will be expected to know this. It will be their graduating year, last name, first initial. Password is lisd followed by their lunch number. Email is username followed by @lipanindians.net

Parent Communication:

DOJO (You will receive a copy of instructions on how to sign up to use the DOJO app.

Benchmark Tests/STAAR Test:

We will have a benchmark test/practice STAAR tests in November and in February. These will not be a grade, but will give us data on what areas we need to address before the real STAAR tests in early May.

Six Weeks Movies:

For any student who does not have a conduct change within a six week period (100 in citizenship on their report card) they will earn a “Free Movie” in class. This movie will be shown in class the last part of the day. We have six “six week periods” in a year. Therefore, your child has an opportunity to enjoy 6 free movies throughout the year. This is a great incentive for the students to keep a 100 in citizenship!
