President's Holiday Message
I’m guessing that all of you (as I did as well) thought that by the end of 2021, the world would be almost back to ‘normal’ but it was not to be. Much has improved since the vaccines have rolled out but the pandemic is definitely not over yet. We need to continue being cautious but at least we can have family gatherings this holiday season which wasn’t possible last year. With close to 2 years of restrictions and social isolation, I’m so grateful to be able to hug my grandchildren and visit with friends and family. I certainly have learned not to take these simple joys for granted.
As if the weariness of living through the pandemic were not enough, so many people are enduring the devastation of this summer’s heat dome and recent flooding. To support those affected, I encourage everyone to consider giving a donation through a credible organization.
Finally, I would like to share with you part of a message sent to me several years ago. As a quilter, these words particularly resonated with me.
“As we enter the sprint to Christmas (and other holidays), please take time to savour a moment or two, alone or with a friend. Nothing is permanent, nothing is perfect and nothing is ever complete. Find beauty in impermanence, imperfection, and in the unfinished. The holidays will be over in a flash, it may not be perfect and there is always next year. Learn to see beauty in all of this. Accept the patina you have attained, own it, love it in yourself and in those who surround you.”
On behalf of the LGQG executive, I wish all of you joy and happiness no matter how you celebrate the holidays and all the best for 2022!

Quilters' Holiday re-write to enjoy!
'Twas the night before Christmas,
And the quilts were not made.
The threads were all tangled, the cookies delayed.
The stockings weren't hung, the pantry was bare.
The poor weary Quilter was tearing her hair.
Stacks of fat quarters, tipped over in streams.
Visions of Log Cabins had turned into dreams.
When what to her wondering eyes should appear,
But a bus full of quilters with all of their gear.
They went straight to work with just a few mutters,
Sorting and stitching and brandishing cutters.
The patterns emerged from all of the clutter,
Like magic the fabrics arranged in a flutter.
Log Cabins, Lone Stars, Flying Geese & Bear Tracks
Each quilt was a beauty-even the backs.
'Twas the Night before Christmas
Her house how it twinkled, her quilts how they glowed.
The cookies were baking, the stockings were sewed.
Their work was all done, so they folded their frames,
And packed up their needles, without giving their names.
They boarded the bus, and checked the next address.
More quilts to be made, another quilter in distress.
She heard one voice echo, as they drove out of sight,
Happy quilting to all and to all a good night!

From Judy W.
We have received a request from a someone who writes " I am desperately looking for some help bringing a beloved small quilt back to life for my new daughter, Penny. My aunt made my sister and I these farm yard themed quilts when we were born and I would love to be able to pass it down to my daughter. My aunt is battling dementia and it would be a dream to show her the quilt again in all its glory."
I have attached some photos- would need the back side recovered with all one softer fabric and the front side repaired and repatched with the different pieces that have fallen off or worn down.
