Kabalikat Farmer

Do you want to manage a farm?

Overview

One of the challenges farmers are facing nowadays is who would manage their farms in the future? This is because a lot of them have experienced hardships and they don’t want their children to do the same so they send them to college or universities so that they will land a good paying job.

On the other hand, we also have aspiring farmers who have gained knowledge in agriculture because they want to develop our local resources but unfortunately, they have no land to apply what they have learned.

Kabalikat Farmer Program is addressing these issues. Gabay Kalinga Foundation will train farmers to do the coconut sap harvesting. A tapper can harvest 45 to 65 palms per day. We have partner farms with more or less 20,000 palms in Rizal, Palawan which means we can generate livelihood for 300 farmers who can earn more than the minimum daily wage rate since we have Lionheart Farms (Philippines) Corporation who is committed to be the sole buyer of all the sap collected.

Aside from buying all the collected sap, Lionheart Farms will also provide all the technical assistance in terms of tools and equipment.

Gabay Kalinga aims to make a new trend of farming in the Southern Palawan and that is harvesting the coconut flowers which we also call as Tapping. With this, we are in the process of accrediting it as a skill in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). This will give our farmers opportunity to gain skills that will help them upgrade their farming abilities.

We are also targeting for the Municipality of Rizal to be part of the C40 Cities in taking bold actions to address climate change and focusing on the healthy and sustainable developments.
