If applicable, Open Enrollment Application (see Open Enrollment section below)
Once enrollment in the LMHSAP is approved, you will be assigned a supervising teacher. At this point, you will then receive additional information and next steps.
If you are a new student in the Linn-Mar Community School District, you will need to complete your registration in a PowerSchool account. After receiving your forms, you will be sent information on how to complete this information from your computer.
Open Enrollment
If you live outside the Linn-Mar Community School District, your district may currently host a home school assistance program. If your district does not host a program, or you prefer the services that LMHSAP has to offer, you may open enroll into the Linn-Mar Community School District.
2026-27 Open Enrollment
DEADLINE for 1st-12th grade: March 1, 2026
DEADLINE for Kindergarteners: September 1, 2026
The State reinstated the open enrollment deadline it removed a few years ago. This only applies to NEW students outside of the Linn-Mar Community District, who desire to enroll within the Linn-Mar Community School District. If you are currently open-enrolled, there is no need to renew. The open enrollment annual deadline will be March 1 for students in 1st-12th grade, and September 1 for Kindergarteners. No new 1st-12th grade open enrollment applications for the 2026-2027 school year will be approved after March 1, 2026 unless they meet one of the specific good causes outlined by the Iowa Dept. of Education.
You may obtain an open enrollment form online. Approval from the District can take a month or more and OEs must be approved before full enrollment in LMHSAP. Once completed, email to Heather Kosikas, heather.kosikas@linnmar.k12.ia.us, drop them off at Linn Mar's Educational Leadership Center or mail to Heather Kosikas, Attn: Home School Assistance Program 3556 Winslow Rd, Marion, IA 52302 .
Once the open enrollment request has been submitted and approved by the district, we will contact you with further information. An online account will also be set up for you in PowerSchool.
Dual Enrollment
Dual enrollment is a term used to describe a student who is primarily home educated, but who desires participation in selected classes and activities through the public school’s regular education program. If you desire dual enrollment, please indicate that on your open enrollment application and your Form A. Dual Enrollment is further categorized into academic and extracurricular.
