Google Calendar

With this online calendar, you can keep track of appointments, classes, assignment due dates - pretty much anything time sensitive - and set reminders to alert you to upcoming events and deadlines. You can share calendars with anyone else who also uses Google Calendar.

University of Minnesota Assignment Calculator

There are plenty of assignment calculators out there, but they all seem to be based on the one developed by the University of Minnesota.

What does it cost? Nothing!

How to get it: Just visit the Assignment Calculator webpage and select the type of assignment to get started (options include "Research Paper", "Speech", or "Lab Report"). Enter the start date and the assignment due date and you'll be given a list of deadlines for all of the steps needed to complete the assignment on time, complete with writing tips and links to other helpful resources!

MyHomework

This online service allows you to keep track of your class schedule, homework, and test/quizzes. You can set reminder alerts, too. Premium accounts also allow for file uploads, such as syllabi and other resources.

What does it cost? The free version is great for most students. There is also a premium version available for $45 per year.

Remember the Milk

This online service is essentially a super-powered to-do list that sends you reminders to keep you on track. If you have a hard time remembering tasks and appointments (and don't want to or can't use Google Calendar), this may be helpful.

This free mind-mapping tool lets you create mind maps and turn them into outlines that you can download and edit or copy into Google Docs. Visual learners may find this helpful for brainstorming, organizing their thoughts, and creating outlines.

This web-based mind mapping tool let's you create mind maps and share them with others. You can add images, videos, and files. Visual learners may find MindMeister helpful for brainstorming and organizing their thoughts.

It's easy to use - sign up for an account and follow the prompts to get started.

What does it cost? It's free for up to three mind maps at a time. For unlimited mind maps and more features, pay $5 per month.

Google Keep

Create virtual "sticky notes" that you can access from any computer or mobile device. Integrated into Google Suite, so you can easily copy class notes and research into your documents. Visual learners may find this particularly helpful because notes can be color-coded and grouped.
