aka "Term Rollover"
aka "Term Rollover"
Your Canvas courses for next term have been created and should be visible on your Canvas Dashboard. Here is how to import the contents of one Canvas course into another course. If you are listed as the “instructor of record” for a course in the schedule of classes, but do not see the course in Canvas, contact lms-admins-lb@linnbenton.edu with the CRN(s).
For tips on preparing your class for students, see the Start of Term Guide for faculty.
The eLearning team and Center for Teaching Excellence faculty will be available to support your work throughout the term.
For support with Canvas and Turnitin, please email lms-admins-lb@linnbenton.edu.
Instructor self-help: Please refer to the Canvas Instructor Guide.
For teaching support, please email learning-innovation-lb@linnbenton.edu.
Using these group email addresses is the best way to ensure a response or to schedule a meeting time. If you anticipate needing support during the first week of the term, reach out soon, as our schedules fill up fast.
December 12 (last day of term) - We will be available until 4:00 pm for Canvas gradebook support.

December 22 - Canvas courses are automatically created to open and close based on Banner "Term Data". The term close date has a built-in buffer to allow students to review the recently completed term for grade review and/or negotiated late work. These prefilled open/close date fields can be managed within your Course Settings. If you have questions about a student(s) who is in an incomplete status, please refer to this help guide. Questions? Contact the eLearning Team at lms-admins-lb@linnbenton.edu for guidance.
You can combine student enrollments into one Canvas course shell through the Multiple-CRN Enrollment Form. Use discretion when combining shells and consider consulting with the LMS team beforehand. Here is how you can set up groups in your Canvas course to help with course management and student interaction in combined courses. Contact the eLearning Team at lms-admins-lb@linnbenton.edu for guidance. This form will close on Friday of Week #1 each term.
January 5 - First day of Classes - LBCC allows each instructor to adjust their course open date/time within their Course Settings. If you wish to open your course early, feel free to publish your Canvas course(s) and adjust the open date/time. For courses scheduled to open later in the term, please adjust the dates/times after courses automatically open at 8 am on the first day of the term
IMPORTANT: As part of the DDA process, it is required that DDA Canvas courses be set to be published a few days before the term. Course availability gives your students access to their DDA materials on or before the start of the term. We understand that you may want to keep your teaching content hidden, but all that is needed to be visible to students is the “DDA Tools” module at the top of the course. For more information on DDA, contact Lawrence Lajoie.
REMEMBER: Using Canvas is recommended for all courses, and is required for fully online courses. All courses must have your syllabus and the “College Syllabus” visible to students in the Navigation pane. A functional Canvas gradebook is an additional requirement.
IMPORTANT: If you know you will be having a grade dispute, please retrieve and back up your log files before we archive your course.
FYI:
