Writing Unit: Realistic Fiction

Learning Goals

• Write a developed narrative piece that includes story elements (character, setting, problem, solution) and a natural sequence of events and an ending.

• Use the writing process to produce a piece of writing at a fourth grade level. (Plan, Draft, Revise, & Edit)

• Use grade-appropriate language conventions at a fourth grade level. (Capitalization, Punctuation)

• Spell fourth grade appropriate words correctly, consulting references as needed.

Learing Goals

• Write an opinion piece with a clear introduction, a claim, reasons, evidence with details to support each reason, and a conclusion related to the claim.

• Use the writing process to produce a piece of writing at a fourth grade level. (Plan, Draft, Revise, & Edit)

• Use grade-appropriate language conventions at a fourth grade level. (Capitalization, Punctuation)

• Spell fourth grade appropriate words correctly, consulting references as needed.
