Duolingo is a free language-learning platform that includes a language-learning website and app, as well as a digital language proficiency assessment exam. As of January 2019, the language-learning website and app offer 85 different language courses in 24 languages.
EdPuzzle is a tool that allows students to be engaged with educational videos while, at the same time allowing teachers to collect formative assessment data about the impact of the video on student learning. This is a great tool for teachers to use for videos that they assign students to view at home for homework. It can help make students accountable for viewing videos outside of the classroom freeing up classroom time for students to ask questions or interact with what they learned.
FlipGrid
Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. Grids can be shared with classes, small groups, or any collection of users interested in a common strand of questions. Each grid can hold an unlimited number of topics and each topic can hold an unlimited number of responses. Topics can be text-based or include a resource such as an image, video, Giphy, emoji, or attachment.
GeoGebra is an interactive geometry, algebra, statistics and calculus application, intended for learning and teaching mathematics and science from primary school to university level.
Kahn Academy
Khan Academy was created in 2008 by Salman Khan with the goal of creating a set of free online tools that help educate students. The organization produces short lessons in the form of videos. Its website also includes supplementary practice exercises and materials for educators.
Learn Zillion
LearnZillion offers thousands of Math and English Language curriculum videos that have been developed by expert teachers directly from the Common Core State Standards. Thousands of exceptional lessons for teaching or learning the new standards. You don't have to start from scratch anymore.
Newsela
Newsela is a teaching tool that provides thousands of current events articles written at differing reading levels. It is used by over 10 million students nationwide. Newsela has become an important tool for teachers in developing comprehension in non-fiction reading and skills in navigating and evaluating media.
