We want you to have an enjoyable time with our star fish hunt. Here are the answers to a few questions that we think might come up:
What is it? The Starfish Hunt is just what it sounds like; a downtown scavenger hunt that celebrates one of our favorite underwater creatures, the starfish. There will be weekly prizes for participants as well as an opportunity for a “Grand Prize” drawing.
Dates and times that the game is "on": The hunt will run from November 29th-December 31st. All participating locations have different store operating hours and you can take multiple days to complete the starfish hunt.
How do I earn entries into the drawings? You will receive a guide we are calling the “passport.” When you find the starfish in one location, you will receive one raffle ticket for the weekly drawings and a stamp on your passport. You can also earn an additional raffle ticket if you make a purchase in the store (one ticket per purchase, no minimum dollar requirement).
You can only earn an entry for the grand prize drawings if you fill the entire passport with a stamp from every location.
Where do I turn in their entries? All participating locations will have a collection jar to collect weekly and grand prize tickets.
Can I complete the hunt more than once? Yes, feel free to complete the hunt more than once, BUT PARTICIPANTS CAN ONLY ENTER ONCE PER DAY. Participants can only use one passport at a time, please do not have a single person in your party filling out multiple passports for the group. Employees at participating locations will not stamp more than one passport per person.
FOR FAMILIES WITH KIDS: We will have treat bags available at The Cookie Jar Bakery as a prize for kids who participate. For raffle ticket entries, we ask that you only put the contact information for participants over 18. There is a place to mark on each ticket if you are entering for an adult prize or a kids prize.
What kind of prizes will there be? There will be prizes from the Seaside Downtown Assoc. member businesses. The weekly prizes will range in price from $15-50 and there will be multiple prizes given each week. There will be at least one prize each week that is kid friendly. We will be gathering prizes during the entire time that the event runs, so at this time there is no list of prizes. Grand Prizes will be announced on the opening day of the event.
How long can a participant take to complete the hunt? There is no timeline. The hunt can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. As long as the participant has a stamp from every location, they are eligible for the grand prize drawing.
