WORD documents open in google docs. You will lose the formatting if you use it as a google docs. Click on file, scroll down to download, and choose Microsoft Word. You can then click in your downloads to open as a Word document. Close the Google document.  PDFs download once they open so you can save to your computer.

Any document that is not a pdf will open with the choice to copy. This protects our original. Choose copy to open. It will automatically save the document with the words Copy of in front of it. Before typing either download (see instructions above) or change the name to the name of your choice.
