As we close out the 20-21 school year, this will be the last Parent Newspage of the 20-21 school year. On behalf of the LMS staff, I want to thank you for your flexibility and patience during the school year. We know first hand, it was not an easy year! We are aware being quarantined, mask wearing, cohorts, seating charts, social distancing, virtual learning, ect...all caused a hardship on families during the year. However, I am proud of our students and staff for adapting and making the 20-21 school year the the best we possibly can...given the circumstances.
There probably is not anyone looking more forward to the 21-22 school year then Mr. Enders and I. We look forward to returning LMS to the "pre-pandemic normal." We look forward to after school clubs, dances, choir concerts, band concerts, art shows, WEB, National Junior Honor Society, assemblies, seeing the smiling faces of our students on a daily basis...the list goes on and on!
However....lets not rush summer away! We all deserve time to make memories with our families! Enjoy it!
Below are a few notes as we close out the 20-21 school year and prepare for the 21-22 school year:
Summer Office Hours: Effective June 14th-June 18th the LMS main office will be open from 7am-2pm. The LMS office will be closed June 21st - early August (we do not have a school calendar for 21-22 yet, the office will reopen three weeks before the first days of school).
21-22 Planning: We will be returning to a 6 period day for the 21-22 school year. Each student will have 4 core classes and two exploratory classes. Core classes will be with the same team of teachers for the entire year. Exploratory classes will rotate every 12 weeks, with the exception of Band and Spanish 1, which are year long classes. Students cannot pick exploratory classes at LMS, exploratory classes are randomly assigned.
Schedule Release: We plan to release student schedules in ParentVue and StudentVue the week of August 16th.
WEB Dates: Since we do not know the first day of school, we have two tentative WEB training and 6th grade orientation dates: August 9th or August 23rd: SOAR 8th Grade Leader Training. August 11th or August 25th: 6th Grade Orientation.
LMS Open House/Building Tour: Will take place the Wednesday evening before the first day of school.
School Pictures: Will take place during school at some point in September.
7th Grade Immunizations: All 7th grade students must be updated on all vaccinations/waivers prior to the first day of school. Please contact your health care provider or the Health Department with any further questions.
Face to Face Students: We will be collecting LMS Chromebooks for all the face to face students on June 9th. Students will need to bring their school issued Chromebook, charger and case (if they were provided one). With this in mind, students will not be able to take their school issues Chromebook home after the 9th. The teachers are aware of this and there will not be homework assigned on those days requiring the use of Chromebooks.
Virtual Students: Chromebooks will be collected in the LMS office on June 11th. Please plan to bring them to the LMS between 6:30am-3pm.
With the recent changes in the Executive Orders on June 1st, we are excited to announce we can now host the 8th Grade Recognition all at once in the LMS gymnasium. The recognition will take place on June 11th at 7:45am in the LMS gymnasium. Each student will be allowed two guests, we currently can have 50% capacity in the gym. Two guests, means exactly that. Due to the capacity limits, a younger sibling, regardless of age, would count as a guest. Guest passes are non transferable to other families. We have crunched all the numbers and will be near capacity with each 8th grade student bringing two guests. We ask that you enter through the main doors where you will be greeted by LMS staff members. We will not be handing out tickets, we will keep track of attendance as you enter the building.
Schools are still directed to wear masks while we are inside. Therefore, masks will be required for all attendees.
As of yesterday, as students log into StudentVue, they will be prompted to acknowledge the handbook for the 21-22 school year. LCS has a new K-12 handbook for the upcoming school year, please make sure your student reviews the policies and procedures.
Parents will also have to acknowledge the handbook and update information in the ParentVue portal. Instructions on how to do so are included below.
We are excited to announce plans for the 21-22 8th Grade Washington DC trip. The trip will take place for next years 8th grade students on May 19th - May 24th. The cost of the trip is $898.00 for students and $998.00 for parents. The cost does include travel insurance in the event the school or individuals have to cancel the trip. Some of our fundraising initiatives have taken a hit due to the pandemic. For example, Alpine currently is not accepting receipts as they do not have the staff to calculate them at the time. Thus, we will keep you updated on future fundraising opportunities and other details as they become available.

Dear LCS Families,
Linden Community Schools is planning to offer a full five day face-to-face pre-pandemic programming for the 2021-2022 school year.
Having said that, we also know some students and families had success with the online modality during this past school year. We would like to continue to offer a 100% virtual option for those families interested. Our online classes are listed in the Odysseyware and Michigan Virtual (grades 6-12), Accelerate (grades K-5) and state online course catalogs.
This survey is the first step in confirmation for a 100% virtual option for your student. This survey does not commit your student(s), but does allow Linden Community Schools the opportunity to continue planning for success in 2021-22.
Please complete one survey for each student you have attending Linden Community Schools.
Click the link to the right to access the survey.
Please visit Mrs. Gambrels website if you would like to sign up for a parent teacher conference during the week of March 15.
If your student is planning to participate in an LMS sport during the 21-22 school year, they must have a physical on file dated on or after April 15, 2021. LMS also has a $75 participation fee. Linden Athletics will be launching a new process for the upcoming year for collecting these items through Finalforms.com. We will release details on this as we get into August. Below are the fall sport offerings and tentative practice dates, we will provide more details later in August:

7th/8th Grade Girls Basketball: August 23rd
7th/8th Grade Sideline Cheer: August 23rd
