Supply Ships

Supply ships were really important for the Britain. The Germans were smart and started using U-Boats to stop the supply ships from reaching the British. They thought that if Britain didn't have any supplies, then they would lose the war. The Germans sank about 5,000 ships in WW1. In the beginning of the war, the Germans would warn the British and French supply ships before they shot them with torpedoes. Since the supply ships were larger than the U-Boats, sometimes they would run over them. So later in the war, the Germans stopped warning them because it was a threat to the operation of the U-Boat.
