Below are the district expectations to keep all of our staff and students safe.
1. Doors MUST be locked at the time designated. This is non-negotiable. We cannot tolerate someone to leave a door unlocked for convenience and potentially open an opportunity for breach. We ALL must increase our diligence and scrutiny of letting in guests and visitors.
2. Please ensure that EVERY classroom has an accurate and up to date roster of the students, with phone numbers for each student, in that class printed and somewhere that can be grabbed quickly (the bag).
3. Please review that EVERY classroom has some sort of bag that contains the roster described in #2, and three (3) color cards. Red, Yellow, Green.
• Green = All Good, All Accounted for
• Yellow = Missing someone, not sure
• Red = Someone is injured; report any missing students or staff to the principal
These cards become visual communication tools when needed.
4. EVERY staff member needs to understand the importance of reporting suspicious people or activity. It is better to report and have something investigated than to just assume and shrug it off. This would include a staff member that sees something outside while they are teaching.
Additionally, the district has been provided a video link from the Lincoln Park Police Department that does an excellent job of reviewing the ALICE training that many of received a few years ago. The video is 7:23 long and the district is directing everyone to watch this no later than September 8, 2020. The information is vital and should not be delayed. The video is posted above and you can also access the video by going to YouTube and search ALICE Training through the WETV Waltham channel.
