Your student is part of one of three options for learning: virtual, Edgenuity, or flash/jump drives. Each one look s a little different. This page describes some of the differences between the options and what your students should be doing in their learning. Regardless of the differences, the goal of every option is student learning.
Virtual Learning
The virtual option allows your student to interact with their teachers on a regular basis. They will be required to login during their class period and participate in the learning. When we return to in-person learning, students in the virtual option will be able to return to Lincoln County High School to continue with a more traditional learning environment. This option allows students to take part in ALL of the rich learning opportunities offered at LCHS. Students will be able to contact their teachers when they are not in class tome through email, google voice, remind, or calling the High School.
Edgenuity
The Edgenuity option, while still virtual, has some key differences which may impact student learning, offerings, and possibly even degree choice. If your student chooses Edgenuity and we return to in-person learning, your student will NOT be allowed to join his/her classmates until the second semester. The following classes will NOT be offered through Edgenuity: AP, CTE (business, family & consumer science, cooking), Ag classes, Lincoln and/or Garrard ATC classes, Arts & Humanities (chorus, band, world language), and conditioning principles. Edgenuity offers very little direct interaction or built-in teacher support. Edgenuity expects all students to login every day for at least a set amount of time, and if the student fails to do so, the progress bar slides backwards and will impact their overall grade. Students will be able to contact their Edgenuity coaches through the Edgenuity platform.
Flash/Jump Drives
This option provides students who are unable to access reliable internet to still take part in rich learning opportunities. All lessons, materials and teacher videos will be uploaded onto a flash/jump drive. Students will complete work on notebook paper. They will take a picture on their chromebook and upload that picture to the flash/jump drive. Students will then return the flash/jump drive to school and pick up the next week's work. It is important to note that these students will be working a week behind those in the virtual option. Students are encouraged to contact their teachers through email, google voice, remind, or by calling the High School with any questions.
